Museum Uses Tarps to Protect Vital Equipment After Earthquake

Caretakers of a museum in Vallejo, California have found an effective way to keep rain from damaging sensitive radio and electronic equipment used for educational programs and amateur radio classes. The roof was damaged by an earthquake, which knocked bricks loose and left a large hole. Entering the area's rainy season, the Mare Island Historic Park Foundation workers scrambled to use tarps to keep rainwater from dripping into their 160-year-old building. After experiencing a heavy rain, they were delighted to find that the tarps worked, and the second floor of their damaged building stayed dry. It's not a permanent solution, but it will do until they can secure funding and complete repairs.
